"Can I Be of Service?"
We will have three speakers:
Jans Pops, Peter Gerber (Hope Mission), and Hannah Pops (TransWorld Radio)
As Christians we are called to develop an attitude of service. Home-educating families are in a unique position to be available for many different opportunities. Come and hear about a few that our members have discovered!

- Monday, December 12, 2011 - Christmas Program - Thank you to LOTS of you who came and shared your talents! We had an hour long program followed by Christmas goodies and a fun time for the teens & kids to try Bible Quizzing. Special thanks to Marianne for putting this fabulous evening together!!
- Monday, November 21, 2011 - Patty Marler spoke about Homeschooling in Alberta and her role as Government Liaison for AHEA. She encouraged us to be proactive in our relationship with Alberta Education, as we have many good things in place with the current Home Education Regulation(p.30), but we must not become complacent. Patty's notes can be found on the "political updates" page of the AHEA website, including information about how to have a positive visit with our MLAs. Please contact Patty here if you'd like further information or resources.
Also tonight, Laurie Roberts shared about the needs in Mexico and her various roles there providing opportunities for orphans in leadership and language training, and also Spanish coaching for English speakers.
And Karen Jarrah outlined Classical Conversations which combines classical learning with a Biblical worldview. Anyone interested please contact Karen.
- Monday, October 17, 2011 - Calvin Smith of www.creation.com gave a compelling presentation about the importance of having a Biblical worldview as foundational. He discussed the authority of God's Word and why creation matters - it does affect our faith! He discussed topics such as bias, faith, science, facts, origins, meaning, death, evolution and atheism, all while modelling a Biblical response to skeptics and to Christians who accept atheist tenets (evolution as origin; millions of years of history, & that the Bible cannot be read as plainly written).
- Monday, September 19, 2011 - Ken Noster reminded us of the freshness we have in each new day as we encourage our children's learning! He talked about the stages of learning and about developing useful program plans. Ken referred to a list of learning outcomes for students which can be found on Page 35 of the Home Education Handbook. Stewart Nelson also shared about the value of HSLDA. The vibrant Q & A sessions were much appreciated!
- Monday, August 22, 2011 - "Never Say Never!" - Delightfully encouraging to new and veteran homeschoolers, Kristine Buchholtz shared her family's homeschool journey and the lessons learned along the way. Jesus has not left us alone!
- Monday, June 6, 2011 - Track and Field Day
- Monday, May 16, 2011 - AGM & Snapshots of the Past - Wow! It was amazing to meet and hear the stories, trials and blessings of the pioneer homeschoolers in Alberta - those creative families who started HSCF and AHEA and helped to shape the homeschooling freedoms that we all enjoy today! Thank you so much! May we be as faithful to the next generation.
- Monday, April 11, 2011 - Science & Heritage Fair - In Marianne's words: "...what a wonderful time it was last night at the Science and Heritage Fair. The quality of the projects and the enthusiasm of the kids was such a joy. We had a great variety of projects; almost twice as many as last year, thanks to our new venue! Marianne reminded us to visit our MLAs and share with them that - contrary to opinion out there - traditional home education is not child abandonment!
